After hearing so many raving reviews about this film, I had to sit down and view it for myself and the reviews were exactly right. This bonkers horror directed by Mimi Cave was an incredible watch and had me gripped throughout the entire film. From an incredible cast to amazing cinematography, this film is a must-watch however not for those who are slightly squeamish.

The film is a modern twist on how scary dating really can be. Our generation has always been told how scary dating online is, especially when it became as easy as swiping left and right but nobody tells you how even the ones you meet in person can still have their dark side. This film explores how everything is not always as it seems and that some fetishes really are the be-all and end-all of everything (including life).

Following the story of Noa (played by Daisy Edgar Jones), the film looks into the main characters dating life as she stumbles across Steve (played by Sebastian Stan) in the supermarket. The two begin dating and seem to have an incredible connection until the pair decide to go on a trip away which turns out to be a setup. Steve, in fact, isn't the man that Noa thought he was and instead of being a doctor he actually is a cannibal who sells the female's body parts to clients with very specific fetishes.

From the description above, you'd believe that Steve was an awful character but in a strange way, he's likable. There were multiple scenes I caught myself laughing or enjoying Steve. One of my favourite scenes is where he's dancing around the kitchen, I just love the juxtaposition of him cutting up someone's body whilst dancing to 80's style music. It was a very odd feeling of being disgusted by a character but also finding him so interesting. Steve felt like Joe Goldberg from 'You' but with a weirder fetish and a little bit less of a stalker. I knew I wasn't supposed to like him but for some strange reason I did, just like how I felt toward Joe throughout the series

One thing that I wish was a little different was the ending. I understand that it is meant to be jarring but there were a couple of unanswered questions for me. Questions like: What happened to Molly's friend - surely he would've seen Ana's car coming up the road especially when they were in the middle of nowhere, Where did the man go who arrived with Ana? - he went to put Steve's body on ice but where did he go after it all? I loved the entire film but I felt there should've been a little bit more closure.

Overall, I absolutely loved watching this film, and not just for Sebastian Stan. The chemistry between Daisy and Sebastian was amazing and it was really great to see them step into very different roles that we haven't seen them play before. I also loved the twist on stereotypical horrors and how it was a little bit whacky and creepy rather than scary. Definitely give this a watch if you haven't already.
